Bunker Quantity Surveys

Accurate measurement of fuel quantity delivered or remaining on board to prevent commercial disputes.

Overview

Comprehensive Bunker Quantity Surveys You Can Trust

Bunker quantity disputes are among the most common — and costly — sources of friction between owners, charterers, and suppliers. SIMS surveyors attend bunkering operations to independently verify quantity delivered, using ullage/sounding measurement, density and temperature correction, and cross-checks against the supplier's delivery note and the vessel's own figures.

Where quality is in question alongside quantity, we draw certified fuel samples in line with MARPOL Annex VI requirements and industry best practice, sealed and witnessed for chain-of-custody integrity. Our reports give clients a defensible, timestamped record they can rely on in any subsequent commercial or arbitration dispute.
